CJ Teffner Bio

CJ is a writer, performer and producer based in Phoenix, Arizona.

Starting with ruining his mom’s coffee table playing “drums” on it with spoons at the age of 9, by 10 he was taking drum lessons from one of his state’s most prominent drummers. In grades 6-12 he was in the school orchestra, jazz ensemble and marching band playing drums, guitar or bass. He also plays piano, cello and mandolin.

A man with a myriad of talents, CJ is taking his latest efforts to his new album ‘Stars’, which features vocalist Robin Cage and is due for release on June 22nd, 2018.

In addition to having his own bands and releases, CJ is a celebrated songwriter, studio musician, producer, and mastering engineer. Accolades include studio sessions with legendary producer Murray Krugman (Blue Oyster Cult) James Ball (Aerosmith, Joan Jett) David Henry (REM) and such notable players as Steve Bowman (Counting Crows) Marko Lira (Trouble), Ricky Porter (Godsmack), as well as Broadway’s noted guitarist and Windam Hill recording artist Sean Harkness and Fusion/Slap bass pioneer Jauqo III-X.

Production credits include co-writing and producing many regional artists and bands, as well as acting as a mastering engineer for digital release of Absolute Brass, featuring Branford Marsalis, Mike Stern, Mark Egan, Dave Weckl, and Jim Hall among others. He also mastered the US high resolution digital release of Europe’s acclaimed jazz artist Jurgen Friedrich: Summerflood, feat. Kenny Wheeler, and was listed as a semi-finalist in 2015’s Unsigned Only Songwriting Competition, which received over 10,000 entries.

Never one to settle on just one passion, CJ is also a trained sous chef and pastry chef, with a keen eye for detail. When he isn’t writing music he can be found working out, reading, entertaining friends, spending far too much time playing with his Doberman Xena, and spending his time with his wife of 25 years and daughter.
